Baggage handlers reject pay deal
20 July 2004
The threat of a strike by baggage handlers and check-in staff at British
Airways came a step closer today when workers rejected a three year pay offer.
Members of the GMB turned down the proposed deal by 98% and officials are now
seeking authorisation for an industrial action ballot.
BA has offered a deal worth 8.5% over three years or 10.5% if the money did not
count towards pensions.

. Found on the internet.
A China Southern Airlines aircraft was temporarily grounded after a
passenger decided he wanted some fresh air and opened the emergency exit.
Fortunately, the aircraft was on the ground at the time, and deplaning
passengers when one man became impatient and decided to sit on the wing to
'cool off'.

A Turkish Airlines A340Airbus was grounded in Instanbul after 36 squirrels
broke out of their cages on the cargo deck. The animals had come from China and
were being returned after having been denied entry due to incorrect paperwork.
The aircraft was taken out of service for checks to ensure none of the animals
had caused any serious damage to any wiring on the aircraft.
