. Remember when!
• Trans-Canada Air Lines offered its first passenger
service from Vancouver, B.C. to Seattle,
Washington in 1937. A round-trip ticket cost
$14.20.
• On April 1, 1939, Canadians venturing to cross
the country by aeroplane from Montreal and
Toronto to Vancouver had to put up with stopovers
in Ottawa, North Bay, Kapuskasing, Winnipeg,
Regina, Lethbridge, and Edmonton.
• In 1990, Air Canada was the first airline to ban
smoking on transatlantic flights, with exceptions for
four flights per week between London and
Singapore.

. Visiting Vancouver Island?
If you are here during early August, the British Columbia Aviation Museum
is located at Victoria Airport. This is an excellent museum and restoration
centre, dedicated to the preservation of aircraft and aviation artifacts.
Located at 1910 Norseman Road at the airport.
On Saturday August 7th they have there annual Open House from 9:00 to 16:00
and will include the roll out of a restored WWII Avro Anson, which took 8 years
of effort.
Check out the web site www.bcam.net
As mentioned in NetLetter 840, the museum has received confirmation that the
CAF Flying Fortress "Sentimental Journey" (B-17G) will be at the Aviation
Museum through the weekend of August 6 to 9, 2004. Our open house is on August
7, so this should make for a very
exciting time.
